Web Hosting Problems

Or, I should say -- Web Hosting Hell!

I just finished transferring 30+ websites to a new web host. YEAAAAA! It is now done, and I will be saving $35 / month.

Changing web hosts is a major pain, especially for multi-domain web host account holders and/or reseller hosting account holders. That may be why we let things go far too long before changing hosts.

For me and my hellish web hosting problems, it all began 2 months after I first started using a particular web host. (I'm not going to name, names, even though they are idiots, they still have the capability to do DNS attacks, etc).

The first two months were fine. Then, they decided to "upgrade" their servers' security ... without telling anyone. All of a sudden, NO ONE's websites showed up. Opps, they said, you need to add "this" file to all of your websites now (and sometimes that didn't work).

This went on almost every month. They would decide to "fool around" with the server -- NOT knowing what they were doing. My, and many others websites disappeared -- we had to wait for the "fix"

My blogs would disappear, I would contact customer service and the answer would be "I have no idea why your blog disappeared" Lovely.

The final straw, happened 3 weeks ago. A blog I had been working on very hard suddenly disappeared. "They had no idea Why" And, no it wasn't anything I did, because it was fine the last time I had checked it.

Anyway, I should have left their sorry hosting months and months ago. Yet, I always rationalized after each problem -- "this will be the last problems for a while" -- ONLY because it would take ALOT of work to transfer the sites.

Finally, I figured, all the time I was taking trying to fix the problems they were causing me, could be BETTER spent transferring the sites.

I went to WebHostingTalk.com, found several sites that offer reseller hosting with good reviews, decided on INNO HOSTING [click here]. Incredible web hosting service so far. I had a problem and received had an answer within 45 minutes.

Anyway, to get to the GIST of this article. When should you find a new web host?

  1. Allow for a few downtimes -- it happens with all hosts, BUT, if you are getting consistent downtimes lasting for more than an hour, WITHOUT warning ...

It's time to move your sites to new hosting

  2. How often do you have to contact the Customer Service because of "something" they have done? If you have to contact them more than 2 times in a month ...

It's time to move your sites to new hosting

  3. Ask yourself if you are holding back from changing web hosting because you dread the transfers -- do you get angry at your web host, yet still manage to rationalize staying with them ...

It's time to move your sites to new hosting

As you can probably see, I'm trying to convey that it will feel REALLY good to get rid of the web host that is giving you problems.

I personally recommend INNO HOSTING [click here]. So far, so good with them.

If you are brand new to web site building and web hosting then Hostgator would be a good option too. [click here]. They have special "noobie" info that would be very helpful.

My hope is this article may save you from at least another month or web hosting "hell."
